How to Build a Three-Step Natural Skincare Routine That Actually Works

Most people do not need ten steps. They need three good ones, done consistently. Here is the simple routine our Welcome Ritual Pack is built around.

If you have ever stood in a beauty aisle holding a product called something like Vitamin Complex Recovery Resurfacing Essence, you know the feeling. Modern skincare is overcomplicated. Most people do not need ten steps. They need three good ones, done consistently.

This guide walks you through a simple three-step natural skincare routine that suits most skin types. It is the same routine we use ourselves and the same routine our Welcome Ritual Pack is built around.

Why three steps is enough

The job of a basic skincare routine is to do three things:

  • Clean off the day (or the night)
  • Refresh and balance
  • Replace some of what your skin loses

That is it. Serums, oils, masks and treatments all have their place, but if you are starting fresh or your skin feels stressed, going back to three steps is the move.

Step 01Cleanse

A cleanser removes the day. Sweat, makeup, environmental dust. For most skin types, a cream cleanser is gentler and less stripping than a foaming gel cleanser, especially in winter or if your skin runs sensitive.

What we use: Gentle Face Cream Cleanser. A nourishing cream cleanser that lifts impurities without stripping the skin barrier. Suitable for all skin types.

Real ingredients: chamomile, lavender, sweet almond and shea butter.

How to apply: Massage a small amount onto damp skin in circular motions. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry, do not rub. Twice a day, morning and night.

Step 02Toner

The second step is about balance. A toner, used in the right way, helps remove the last traces of cleanser, balances skin pH and gives a little extra hydration. It also creates a small ritual that signals to your skin (and your brain) that you are taking care. Apply it after cleansing and before you nourish.

What we use: Active Toner. A balancing facial toner with witch hazel, rose and chamomile hydrosols. Light, fresh and refreshing.

How to apply: Spray a light mist over the face after cleansing and before moisturising. Or refresh through the day, even over makeup.

Step 03Nourish

This is the step where you replace some of what cleansing took away. A moisturising face cream lays down a layer of hydration and supports the skin barrier. If your skin is on the drier side, look for richer formulations with plant oils. If your skin is oily, a lighter cream is fine.

What we use: Intensive Face Nourishment. A rich face cream made with vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts and essential oils. Suitable for all skin types but particularly good for dry or mature skin.

If your skin is oily, our Hydrating Face Moisturiser is a lighter option.

How to apply: A pea-sized amount, gently massaged into the face and neck. Always upward strokes. Morning and night.

Consistency beats complexity. Three simple products, used twice a day, for three weeks.

Putting it together: a five-minute routine

Morning

  1. Splash face with cool water (or cleanse if you sweated overnight)
  2. Spray Active Toner
  3. Apply Intensive Face Nourishment or Hydrating Face Moisturiser
  4. Outdoor Zinc Cream if heading outdoors

Evening

  1. Cleanse with Gentle Face Cream Cleanser
  2. Spray Active Toner
  3. Apply Intensive Face Nourishment

Five minutes, twice a day. That is the routine.

When can you add more?

Once the three-step routine is consistent for a few weeks, you can layer in extras. A weekly clay mask. An exfoliating scrub once or twice a week. A vitamin C serum if you want to brighten. Face oil at night for richer hydration in winter.

The mistake most people make is starting with five new things at once and then giving up when their skin reacts. Build slowly.
