What actually changes for your skin in spring

Coming out of an Adelaide Hills winter your skin is doing two things at once. It is still dry from months of heaters and long hot showers. It is also getting a lot more UV than it saw in July, because the UV index climbs through September well before the weather feels like it should.

That is the trap. Most people start thinking about sun when it gets hot, which is weeks late. The good news is that spring is a swap rather than an overhaul. Same cleanser. Lighter oil. Zinc back in the morning.

Zinc goes back on before it feels hot

Our Outdoor Zinc Cream is built on non-nano zinc oxide with organic avocado, coconut and hemp seed oils, organic shea butter, organic aloe vera and natural vitamin E. It sits on the surface rather than soaking straight in, which is the whole point of a physical zinc.

It comes in carrot seed or raspberry seed oil. The difference is the carrier oil and the finish, not the protection.

The spots people miss every year: the tops of the ears, the back of the neck and the strip of scalp along a part line.

Swap the heavy winter cream for a lighter oil

If the moisturiser that felt right in July now feels like too much, nothing has gone wrong. Skin needs less occlusion once the air stops being dry and cold.

The Hydrating Face Oil is the lighter option. It is a short list: organic hemp seed oil, organic evening primrose and cucumber oil. Three ingredients. Nothing else in the bottle.

The Active Toner does the same job at the other end of the routine. Witch hazel, rose and Roman chamomile hydrosols with organic rosehip oil and colloidal silver.

Something for the first burn of the season

The first properly sunny Saturday catches nearly everyone. The After-Sun Soothing Mist is a hydrosol base of witch hazel, rose and Roman chamomile with organic rosehip and cucumber oil. Keep it in the fridge and it is far more welcome when you need it.

We are not going to tell you it undoes a burn. Nothing does. It is there to make the evening afterwards more comfortable.

Garden days and the hands that show it

Spring is when the beds get turned over and hands cop it. Rose Geranium Body Lotion carries an essential oil blend of organic lavender, rose geranium, bergamot, clary sage and chamomile in a base of organic grapeseed, safflower and avocado oils.

The lip balms also contain organic almond oil. The Deep Purifying Clay Face Mask contains almond oil and honey extract. Almond is a tree nut. If nuts are an issue for you, those are the two to skip.
